6 Hours in Kigali

Rwanda is one of my check list country I planned to visit, got an option to change planes between 6 hours in Kigali was a breakthrough because I can explore Kigali Genocide Memorial for couple of hours.

Kigali International Airport

6 hours waiting @ Kigali Airport was enough to visit Kigali Genocide Memorial. I approached passport control and explain my purpose regarding visiting the the memorial in English while checking my passport and Immigration officer she replied with a smile in Swahili "Umezaliwa *****?" (you were born in *disclose foreign city*?), I replied "Ndio wazazi wangu walikuwa wanafanya kazi huko" (yes my parents were working there), she asked my boarding pass for my next destination so she can satisfy herself that i am there for couples of hours, next she stamped entry on my passport.

En-route to the Memorial

The cab driver was so nice, while he was driving he pointed out around places like, State House, Kigali Convention Center, University of Kigali, United States Embassy e.t.c and other stories life after genocide in general. The city is clean, disciplined, and protected.

Kigali Genocide Memorial

Welcomed with staff with little introduction of the central memorial presentation and short film of victims, storytelling is so emotion and touching. After introduction, It will take you one and half hour minimum to visit / tour the centre a lot of stories to read, see, watch.
